During previous Driving Conversations Roundtables, stakeholders emphasized the need for clearer definitions of Driver Education and Traffic Safety, as well as the diverse professionals ADTSEA-FL serves. In response, our team has developed a comprehensive document addressing these key topics. We invite all interested stakeholders to join this roundtable discussion to review our findings, refine our definitions, and shape a clearer vision of Driver Education and Traffic Safety and the careers in the profession.

The American Driver and Traffic Safety Education Association - Florida (ADTSEA-FL) aims to improve the quality of driver education in Florida through advocacy, professional networking, sharing of resources, and developing educational opportunities for driver education and traffic safety professionals.

ADTSEA-FL was founded in August 2022 to enhance the quality of driver education in Florida. Its inception began with informal discussions and fact-finding missions to determine the feasibility of a state-level association affiliated with the American Driver & Traffic Safety Education Association (ADTSEA). Initial meetings focused on gathering input from public and commercial driver education stakeholders and identifying organizational goals. A key milestone was the decision to pilot the organization as a potential chapter of ADTSEA, ensuring alignment with its mission and infrastructure. By late 2022, formal plans for incorporation began, culminating in the approval of an ADTSEA/ADTSEA-FL dual membership model in November. This partnership with ADTSEA aimed to streamline membership processing and offer shared benefits to members of both organizations.

In 2023, efforts ramped up with the creation of a draft constitution and a comprehensive needs assessment to engage stakeholders statewide. The constitution was ratified in April 2024, marking a significant step toward establishing a robust organizational framework. Simultaneously, leadership identified key operational priorities, including securing insurance, initiating banking partnerships, and preparing the groundwork for resource-sharing platforms.

By late 2024, ADTSEA-FL held regular board meetings and began developing its website and outreach strategies to serve Florida's driver education professionals. With dual membership in place, plans for roundtable listening sessions in early 2025 signal ADTSEA-FL's commitment to fostering collaboration between public educators, commercial driving schools, and governmental agencies to improve driver education standards across the state.

Today, ADTSEA-FL stands as a growing network of professionals dedicated to enhancing road safety and educational outcomes in Florida.
